Aren't we overdue for a bitch-fest?
This rightfully belongs on my Mommy Blog but, fuck it, I needed to cuss.
This woman is a dumb snatch. This woman agrees and blogged about it a whole lot better than I ever could. Heard about the whole thing via this cool chick. Check it:
This bitch, Linda Hirshman, basically says that because I (well, actually not *I* because as a lowly non-college-graduate I am waaaaay too far down the food chain from her beloved 'elite' for her to even acknowledge) am staying home to raise my pre-school-age children, that I have taken a shit on the lap of feminism.
See, this shit is why I tend to hate feminists and feminism. Apparently a woman is only of value if she's scaling the corporate ladder like a shaved monkey on crack, the skirt of her pin-striped power-suit hiked up to flash her freshly Brazillianed pussy mockingly at all the evil, evil penis-bearers (and non-scaling women).
I'm only good enough if I'm 'choosing' what YOU think I should choose to do?
Congrats my hard-core feminist bitch! This sort of attitude has made you fully EQUAL to every misogynistic male asshole I've ever met. Well done.
Oh, and fuck you.
It is my personal opinion that - up to approximately school age (at least 4) - a child should be cared for by one of his parents - preferably his mother (no offense to the great Dads out there, but women tend to be better suited to nurturing. The sexes are NOT exactly the same. Each has it's strengths and, yes, there's tonnnes of crossover and exceptions to every rule, but in general, it's true. Nature designed women for this job after all, a statement that makes most feminists apoplectic.)
I think that up to age four a child is forming the foundations of who he will be forever and this should be attended to by his parents. I don't think that it's optimal for him to spend 8+ hours a day in the care of someone not completely absorbed with his care, nurturing, learning, and discipline. I don't care how much she's paid or how sweet she is, a non-parent doesn't have the same vested interest in the child.
This is my personal opinion. Some people don't agree. Some women want to work. Some women need to work. Some women have to work. Some women choose to work to maintain their lifestyle.
Point is: each of us makes this decision for our family. It's our decision. We think very carefully about it, look at every angle, sometimes agonize over it. But it's our decision to make and, just as we decided to have a child, we decide about working at something other than raising that child 24/7.
And guess what? Each is a valid decision. One that it is our right and duty to make for our kids. If you don't agree that's fine. But to say that one of us is somehow a lesser woman because of it? Fuck you.
I chose to stay home until my babies are all in school. I take my job of 'mom' very seriously. If a woman who has a law degree or is a doctor chooses to stay home why should she be considered to be 'wasting' her degree (or her life?!). She's not fucking dead. She's just doing another job - a very important one - and she's using her life experiences (including her degree) to do it.
I don't know what Linda Hirshman's playing at (selling books maybe? Hmmm.) but somehow I don't think that the cause of feminism is pushed forward by her devaluing women and denigrating their choices.

Amen! I do work, because the income (and benefits) from my job are rather important to the roof over our heads staying over our heads.
However, I work days and my husband works evenings so that one of us is always home with our little guy.
It's not a perfect arrangement and hubby I don't get to spend as much time together as we'd like, but it's the solution we came up with to take care of our kiddo the best we can.
And really? Isn't that supposed to be what it's all about?
Oh, and where did you get your reader advisory? Not that I care if anyone is offended by how often I say fuck (which is pretty much the attitude you have to have as a pottymouth) but I think the warning is fucking funny!
Thanks for the comment! See, THIS is what I'm talkin' about: we, as mothers, make these choices as best we can for our babies, and no one, NO ONE, should vilify us for them!
Oh, and the GIF? I made it! Email me and I'd be happy to send it to you!

Okay, I am in LOVE with your blog! Can you send me the GIF, too, please! I say "fuck" a lot, too, though not on my work blog...
I chose to stay home until my daughters were both in school full time. As a matter of fact, I timed my Master's degree such that I wouldn't be required to do my internship while I had a small person at home. They're MY babies - *I* raise them, not someone else!!
Seriously - I'm very happy I found you!
