a few truths (for fuck's sake)!

If you don't like George Bush, that's OK. You're allowed.

Everyone is entitled to his own political views (otherwise the world would be a boring place) and I respect anyone's right to think what they wish.

But some of the shit that's been said since Katrina is so incredibly stupid that ... well, that I don't know what to say!

Things like George Bush causes global warming and so caused the hurricane.

Things like George Bush caused the levees to break and flood the city (Uh, no ... they have been trying to get upgrades on those levees since 1960. NINETEENSIXTY, people. There have even been a few Demos in office in that time.)

Things like George Bush didn't respond fast enough. 'Scuse me, but do you have ANY idea how much time and effort it takes to mobilize that number of men? That amount of equipment? Co-ordinate supplies?

Oh, you think it should all have been poised and ready?

1) what if Katrina had veered off at the last second? (yes, that happens) How many liberals would have gone absolutely apoplectic at the huge amount of money and manpower wasted on the stand-by operation?
2) it is NOT the federal government's job to attend every anticipated natural disaster. It's the STATE's and the LOCAL government's job.

I could go on and on ...

Ben Stein said it so much better than me.

"Is there any problem in the world that is not Mr. Bush's fault?"

The failure was with local and state governments, both controlled by the Democratic party for the past sixty years. The jackass mayor rejected offers to use all local school buses (later innundated)and rejected an offer from Amtrack to evacuate by train.
