Wherin Blue has multiple Geek-gasms

I hate lyrics on the internet. Have you ever tried getting song lyrics off of the internet? The experience is excruciating. It just fucking is. There are forty-zillion sites that have every lyric to every song ever. Every song, every theme, even nursery rymes and campfire songs (wanna know the lyrics to do your balls hang low? Google 'em!) but apparently many of them let whatever asshole or yahoo who surfs by take a stab at the lyrics. They accept these people's versions and put them up on the site. HELLO! Mondegreens?!

So most of these supposed lyrics are ludicrus at worst and laughable at best. As amusement, this is fine. Misheard lyrics are common. But when I surf for lyrics, I want to know the actual lyrics to the fucking song, not what some 25 year old braindead punk who's just smoked half a bong thinks. Fuck that. I have to wade through their pissy attitudes and extraodinarily high opinions of themselves on my comic boards. I know what their skewed political views are and now I have to put up with their versions of my songs?

Did I say "fuck that"?

So I'm still trying to find these lyrics. I've come across 5 different versions so far (dial-up sucks the big throbbing one), none of them correct. In case you're curious, the lyrics for which I am searching (10 points for grammar! Huzzah!), are the ones to the theme from Enterprise (this is a Star Trek franchise for you mundanes). I just fucking love this song. I like inspirational shit anyway - I'm one of those sad prats who gets the inspirational quotes in my email - and this song is brilliant. I know, I know, a lot of fanboys didn't approve of the theme ... Blue says: fuck 'em! (I mean this literally. Go for it. Some of them could use the pussy.)

The show is fab, the theme is fab. I'm enjoying the piss out of both. Now to find the gorram* lyrics ...

So I got the new Harry Potter book...

(and a great wailing and gnashing of teeth ensued)

Seriously, I've had mates from a comic board that I frequent say that they hate Harry Potter and think that Lemony Snicket is far superior. They mean the book, of course. Well I sure as fuck hope so. The film - A Series of Unfortunate Events - sucked big hairy balls.

Ok, ok ... let me back-track.

See, I never knew either one existed until the films. I really enjoyed the Harry Potter films. For one they contain all of the 25 or so British actors in existance. There are only 25 or 30, right? And I do so dearly love them all (well, most ... Hugh Grant makes me itch). The films are beautifully done and loads of fun, so I got all 5 of the books and read them.

I enjoyed them. I had a pre-conceived love of all the characters (lust is a better word for Professor Snape. As I've frankly stated before, I've adored Alan Rickman for a while and him as Snape ... well ... *droooooooool*) so I pre-ordered the latest book.

**NOTE: possible spoilers here. If you've not read the 6th book you may want to skip this**

I wasn't disappointed. It was great. I really liked it a lot more than #5 (Harry Potter and the Bad Attitude, was it?) as the teen characters seemed more mature and less obnoxious. The plot was tighter as well and really tense.

I will say one thing:

****SPOILERS!**** POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

I just cannot believe it of Snape. I just refuse to believe it. I can't accept that he's really with the Dark Side. If he is then just call me a Death Eater Shagger Wannabe!

----

Before I leave you today I just had to ask: how bloody cool is this??? also: I just want to say that this Science Geek's thoughts and good wishes are with the Discovery and her crew. Good sailing!

*10 more points and a blow job to you nerds who recognise this reference.

Hah - I recognise the source but will pass on the BJ, thanks. LOL!

Check out these sites for the lyrics. I think there will be some variation because the song was adapted for the show.

Can I claim the passed on BJ? ;-) Blue, I have missed you. Please just ignore hubby and the family and post here more often (I am kidding of course).

Speaking of comics and such, do you watch the show Entourage? I believe it is either on HBO or Showtime down there. It is the story of a movie star and his friends who are mooching off him.

Anyway, for last weeks plot he had been signed on to play Aquaman with Mandy Moore as Aqua Girl and they went to ComicCon San Diego to announce it. Lots of jokes about the comic book community. It is a funny show and there are a ton of celebrity guest spots.

Anyway, thought I would let you know. Take care.

Firefly! hehe... I'll collect when I come for waffles :P

I share your frustration about lyrics sites, by the way... I think I talked about that once on Shadows...

but anyway, there is a Lyricswiki, which I have found to be pretty accurate and reliable... maybe that will have what you are looking for...

I loved the new Harry Potter book, but I honestly think the think you were talking about was a plan devised by Dumbledore... I would say more, but I don't want to spoil anything here...

heh, and yeah, it was nice to see a non-whiney Harry this time around...

I agree. Obviously Snape either A) Killed Dumbledore at his own (Dumbledore's) behest or B)is PRETENDING to have killed Dumbledore for some reason that we do not yet know but that shall be revealed in the final book. It is clear that Dumbledore truly believes/believed Snape to be beyond reproach and I believe him. Yes, I am a nerd.
