Blog me, people!
I guess it was bound to happen; I'd end up blogging about ... blogging. Or, rather, bloggers.
I am not a web surfer. My natural impatience and high irritability factor (combined with dail-up) make it a no-go. I have no such problem with surfing blogs. I read very quickly and I can determine in a minute if I'm interested or not.
So I've fallen into the habit of what I call 'blog-hopping'. I go to Blogger's list of recently posted blogs and browse until I find one I like, bookmark it, then I jump to a blog that THAT person links in his sidebar. And so on .... and on.
I've come across some really cool stuff. I've also read hundreds of really crappy blogs.
No offense, of course. To each his own. I'm sure my blog is yawned over and snorted at on a daily basis (thanks for reading, though, folks! LOL). Everyone has stuff that they find interesting.
For example, I can't read the Teenie-Weenie blogs. You know the ones. Chock full of angst and purposeful misspellings and completely devoid of punctuation or capitalization (except randomly in the title: mY horRiBle traJiC LifE). Now don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed some great blogs written by teens - they're capable of beautiful blogging - but those kids blog with thought and purpose not random attempts at being kewl.
Another that I can't stomach is the Tragedy Blog and it's subset the Nobody Loves Me blog. In each of these the posts are almost identical every day: I suck. nobody loves me. I want to die. oh just kill me please. how can everyone else be so happy. I hate them. here's a tragic poem I found/wrote. The Nobody Loves Me version simply adds: how could he/she do this to me. I went by her/his house/job/fave restaurant. he/she didn't ring me even tho I left 17 messages on his/her voice/email. I don't understand.
Again, everybody gets depressed and bad shit happens to us all. It really helps to get to blog about it ... but every single post you've ever made? It gets a bit tiresome.
I'm a big fan of the Mommy Blog (being one of those creatures myself) and they have recently been entertaining me with all the brouhaha surrounding the BOB awards. Apparently this bloke made a funny regarding mommy blogs and was inundated with thousands of insults from angry mommybloggers. It's keeping me on the edge of my seat. Note to humanity: it's NOT a good idea to rib thousands of online hormonal women - we can completely miss the joke and get a tad irrational (as our darling hubbies may have noticed)!
But seriously I do like reading about peoples daily lives. I doesn't matter if you're a student, a single, career-oriented guy, or a mom. I wanna hear about YOU. Not just your job, not just your exams, not just your partying, not just that guy you like, YOU.
Since I'm a Mom myself, I get a kick out of other people's rants and observances on living with being pregnant, having kids, raising kids. Mommy Blogs can be incredibly boring. I get annoyed with the ones that detail the tiniest things ("Emily-Raven ate peas again today!"), or post 10 pics of Junior every single post.
Lets hear the funny stuff. Show us the disarming or amusing pics. Lets hear about YOU. What did YOU do today? What did you think about? Do you have a garden? What are you reading? Ya know you're a person, not just Kamrynne and Kennydeigh's mom.
And that's it. I understand that folks blog for themselves. But if you wanted it kept private you'd write it down on paper at home. So you keep blogging and I'll keep reading. Deal?

Awesome post, Blue! I must admit, I have just stuck my toe in the blogging water and I have much to learn, and much much much to read. But I'm glad you found my blog and said "Hi" cause I never would have found yours in a million years. Take care. Mike
LOL, I've been known to blog-hop, too. There's some weird stuff out there! And the ones completely devoid of punctuation and grammer drive me nuts, as well. What a phenomenon blogging is...we're so willing to share the most personal aspects of our lives with a bunch of complete strangers, things we wouldn't even tell our own families. But at least it's entertaining. ;)
